LAGOS: Deadly protests over cartoons of the prophet Mohammed spread in Africa yesterday, killing 16 people in Nigeria a day after claiming 11 lives in Libya.
Many of those who died in northern Nigeria were Christians, killed after a Muslim protest over the cartoons turned violent and rioters torched churches, shops and vehicles, police and local officials said.
It was the bloodiest protest so far over satirical cartoons of the prophet, first published in a Danish newspaper, that Muslims regard as blasphemous.
A politician in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has offered a $14million reward to anyone who beheads one of the Danish cartoonists who outraged Muslims by depicting Mohammed.
Minister of Minority Welfare Yaqoob Qureshi said the killer would also receive his weight in gold. He made the offer during a rally in his constituency in Meerut, northeast of Delhi.

It's sad that there are people just going about their daily lives that suddenly have their things destoyed or their lives taken because
...of a cartoon...
Actually, at this point, the cartoon has nothing to do with what's going on.
People want to say only Islamic extremist act this way, but these crimes are being committed by regular every day Muslim people...
...who are looking for any old reason to be violent and kill someone.
I guess I could be wrong... but it's going to take quite a bit to change my mind considering they are blaming a cartoon for being blasphemous while burning down Christain churches.
The true nature of someone's belief system comes out in the things they do in the name of their god.
Damned straight.
