observation...

I've noticed on some sites
some people believe
that all muslims should be rounded up... put in prison... and interrogated to the nth degree until the war is over
well... let's go with that line of thinking...
cuz we did that once already in this country in WWII
we rounded up nearly 120,000 Japanese Americans
...well... that didn't work out to well...
That was not a pretty part in our history.
Sure we could go round up anyone that "looks" muslim. Considering there are about a 1 billion followers in the world... a small fraction of that in the US... you are going to need one hellva place to put em.
now... give me one second while i make a slight detour...
fact... there are more deaths due to violent crimes in some U.S. cities than in Iraq on the average day.
Now let's take the philosophy stated above.
For every murderer that was caught... be it white, black, asian, or otherwise...
...should we then round up every race... put them in prison... and interrogate them to the nth degree until the killing stops?
I know, I know... you say that's different... that's a single person...
...and you're right... but we're not fighting countries anymore... we're fighting an idea...
back on track from my small detour now..
in fact you can't look at someone and tell they are muslim... sure maybe they have a turban on their head... but they maybe christian in nature...
and there's this other fact...
Islam is fastest growing among the whites and blacks in the prison systems. And last I checked... they don't wear turbans much...
rants like this remind me of a quote that I grew up with...

You're right. It's also easy to have that knee-jerk reaction when you don't know anybody who is Muslim or if there's no way you yourself could be racially profiled.
We also need to remember that the Oklahoma City bombing was a terrorist attack but it was a couple of white guys who pulled that off. I don't believe either of them were Muslim.
On the other hand I have to admit to shooting a woman a dirty look because she was wearing a burka (this was back in Houston) and for no other good reason. She didn't see me so at least she doesn't know so there's that part. Yeah, I suck.
