It's amazing what we will sell out souls for.
In the middle of a war that we hope/wish/pray will bring some kind of democratic society... it seems we can't get a handle on the one we have here.
I love my country... always have... loved it more after I stood in front of the Berlin Wall.
My younger self had a view of this country... a blind faith in a short list of faiths...
God... Country... Family
All of which I have found in my older age can be rather dysfunctional...
My point you ask?
Two news story struck my ears today...
St. Petersburg Florida...
Cops cut up tents that belong to homeless people. Under the guise that the "tenants" were smoking and cooking in them... see for yourself...
Now, I'm not saying that a tent area for homeless is the best solution, but for them, it's currently their home.
Until we sit down and realistically look at the homeless problem, I don't think we have the right to treat them any old way that some Mayor or City Counsel wants to.
It's easy enough to say... "get a job" as you scoff, look away and run the other direction.
Most shelters are over crowded. They have to turn people away. People get robbed at the shelters. Then the shelters have people leave early in the morning before they are able to shower.
You can't maintain a job if you smell like two week old ass. I know, because I wouldn't keep someone in my plant if their hygiene was that bad.
Most homeless have addictions... have mental illnesses which takes money for rehab and therapy... and we seem to be all out of that type of money...
Instead of cities spending money on golf courses or Stadiums (like Charlotte, Jacksonville, Nashville)... maybe those taxpayers dollars could go to something a little more proactive in their communities...
Just a thought...
Then there's this story Refugees Find Hostility and Hope on Soccer Field... it's a little long... but it's worth the read...
It's basically about how a bunch of backwood hypocritical rednecks from Georgia can't find it within themselves to educate themselves about the people around them...
They don't want to be educated... nor do they care to... and that's just sad... and at the same time, these same people would in the office of a lawyer crying discrimination the minute anything like this were to happen to them.
These people should be so ashamed of who they've become that even the deepest and darkest pit wouldn't justify the pathetic way they've treated people around them... especially ones that need the caring the most...
These aren't illegal aliens.. they're not homeless people... and top it all off...
They're KIDS.
Ignorant Rednecks... and if you found my site and you live there and you agree with what the kids have been put through then I'm talking to you.
