"If my life is for rent..."
I was listening to the radio over Easter. There was this radio show that was telling about Jesus' last few days. It was just commentary with music as he went over the story.
Near the end of his commentary, he thanked Jesus for dying so that he could live.
Over the years, I've heard this same type of statement and it raised a question.
"What if Jesus had led a peaceful and long life... would we still not be alive?"
Even if you change it to mean "dying for our sins"... would the gates of heaven not be just as open?
They really are just simple questions. Nothing of the fantastic kind. Just a simple... what if Jesus had lived... then what?
I have a feeling that most of the masses if posed this question, wouldn't discuss it... they would look at me and say...
"but he did die"... as if that would be the answer to it all.
We only live only so long... rented time... is that time better spent asking questions of the universe than walking around like cattle headed for the slaughter?
Ask questions of your religion...
Ask questions of your media...
what is it they aren't telling you? those are the questions worth asking.

There are also people who would suggest there never even was a historial Jesus. ;-)
